The testimony reportedly lasted several hours and explored aspects of Epstein’s social and professional network.
According to reports from major news organizations, Clinton recalled a conversation he once had with former president Donald Trump. The discussion focused on Trump’s past relationship with Epstein and how it eventually ended. Clinton’s recollection appeared to differ from explanations Trump has previously offered in public statements, quickly sparking debate among political commentators and members of Congress. Epstein maintained connections with numerous wealthy and influential people during the 1990s and early 2000s. His lifestyle—marked by luxury homes, private aircraft, and international travel—placed him in the same social circles as prominent figures from politics, business, and entertainment. Trump and Epstein were known to move within similar social environments during that era, particularly in New York and Palm Beach. Photographs from the time show the two men attending events together, including gatherings at Trump’s private club, Mar-a-Lago. In a 2002 interview with New York Magazine, Trump described Epstein as someone he had known for years.
However, their relationship later appeared to end. Clinton testified that during a charity golf event supporting the Safe at Home Foundation—founded by baseball executive Joe Torre—Trump said the split was linked to a disagreement over a real estate deal. Previous reporting by The Washington Post and The New York Times noted that the two men competed in a 2004 bidding contest for a Palm Beach mansion, which Trump ultimately purchased. While Clinton’s testimony does not resolve the full history of Epstein’s relationships, it adds another perspective to ongoing efforts by journalists, lawmakers, and investigators to better understand the powerful social networks that once surrounded the financier.
