Iranian Ballistic Missile Strike on U.S. Base in Qatar Marks Major Escalation..

Doha / Washington — Rising tensions between the United States and Iran appeared to escalate sharply after reports that an Iranian ballistic missile struck a major U.S. military installation outside Doha, Qatar, drawing the Gulf nation into the widening regional crisis.

According to early accounts, the strike occurred shortly after midnight local time. Witnesses living near the base described a sudden flash of intense light followed by a powerful explosion that rattled windows and shook nearby neighborhoods. Moments later, flames and thick smoke were seen rising high above the desert horizon as emergency sirens echoed across the outskirts of the capital. Defense sources said the missile hit part of the large base complex, igniting fuel storage areas and causing serious damage to several structures, including support buildings and barracks. Fires reportedly spread through sections of the installation, triggering additional explosions that could be heard miles away.

Videos circulating on social media appeared to show burning vehicles, damaged pavement, and heavy plumes of smoke drifting into the night sky. In several clips, groups of civilians could be seen gathering along nearby highways and overpasses, watching the unfolding scene from a distance. Officials have not yet confirmed casualty numbers, and U.S. military authorities say a full assessment of the damage is still underway. Qatari officials are reportedly coordinating closely with American forces to secure the base and manage the aftermath.
