😮😮GOP senator joins police in ejecting anti-war protester from Capitol Hill hearing..//

At a Senate Armed Services subcommittee hearing on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Republican Senator Tim Sheehy of Montana helped police officers remove a protester who disrupted the proceedings to criticize the U.S. and Israel’s war with Iran. The protester was Brian McGinnis, a Marine Corps veteran who is currently running as a Green Party candidate in North Carolina’s Senate race. According to his campaign, McGinnis later said his arm was broken during the confrontation. U.S. Capitol Police, however, accused him of violently resisting officers and assaulting them.

The disruption occurred about 30 minutes after the hearing began, during testimony from senior military officials about U.S. military readiness. McGinnis, dressed in a military uniform, stood up and began shouting objections to the war. At one point he yelled, ā€œAmerica does not want to send its sons and daughters to war for Israel.ā€ Capitol Police officers attempted to escort McGinnis out of the hearing room. Video footage later shared with CBS News by an antiwar activist appears to show McGinnis struggling as officers tried to remove him.

As the confrontation moved toward the doorway, Senator Sheehy left the dais and assisted officers in lifting McGinnis and forcing him out of the room. During the struggle, McGinnis’ left hand appeared to become trapped between the door and its frame. Sheehy seemed to try to free it, while someone nearby accused the senator of breaking McGinnis’ hand. When another person asked McGinnis if he was okay, he replied that he was not. Police eventually escorted McGinnis outside the room while Sheehy returned to his seat. In the hallway, McGinnis could be heard saying that his left arm had been broken.

According to Mark Elbourno, a Green Party official managing McGinnis’ campaign, McGinnis was arrested and taken to George Washington University Hospital. Elbourno said he did not know McGinnis’ condition but insisted the candidate had not assaulted officers. Capitol Police said McGinnis faces several charges, including assaulting officers, resisting arrest, and obstructing passageways during the hearing.
