FBI Releases New Description, Doubles Reward In Guthrie Case…

The FBI’s Phoenix office has intensified efforts in the search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, missing since February 1. An updated description of an individual seen in doorbell camera footage has been released: a man 5’9″-5’10” with an average build, wearing a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack. The reward for information leading to Guthrie’s whereabouts or an arrest has doubled to $100,000. This refinement, spurred by thousands of tips to the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department, aims to focus public assistance, filtering irrelevant submissions, including those from psychics.

Authorities are appealing to neighbors near Guthrie’s home to submit doorbell or surveillance footage from specific periods: January 11 (9 p.m.-midnight) and January 31 (9:30 p.m.-11 p.m.), and to flag any suspicious vehicles around 10 a.m. “Bringing Nancy home is our priority,” stated FBI Phoenix Public Affairs Officer Connor Hagan. Investigators have recovered evidence, including multiple gloves, one found about 1.5 miles from Guthrie’s home, reportedly resembling one in the video.

CNN Analyst John Miller emphasized that these gloves will undergo thorough forensic analysis for DNA, fingerprints, and fiber. Separately, Carlos Palazuelos, a 36-year-old Arizona man, was briefly detained and questioned near Tucson regarding the disappearance. Palazuelos, a delivery driver, cooperated but adamantly maintained his innocence upon release, stating he might have delivered a package to Guthrie’s home but was not involved.
