Former Top Trump Adviser Passes Away Suddenly…

Dr. James Dobson, a celebrated clinical psychologist, evangelical leader, and former presidential adviser, has died at 89. Born in 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Dobson emerged as a leading voice in American evangelical Christianity over half a century. Through popular broadcasts and bestselling books, he reached millions, championing faith, marriage, and child-rearing as central to American life and profoundly shaping cultural and political discourse.

Dobson founded Focus on the Family (FOTF) in California in the mid-1970s, which rapidly became a key evangelical organization on family issues. By the 1980s and 90s, his radio programs aired on over 4,000 stations across North America, translated into 27 languages, reaching a global audience. After relocating to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1991, FOTF continued its advocacy for marriage, parenting, religious liberty, and strong pro-life positions.

Author of over 70 books, including influential titles like The New Dare to Discipline, Dobson frequently warned against cultural shifts he believed undermined traditional family values. He championed efforts to reduce teen pregnancy, advocated for abstinence education, and strongly defended the sanctity of life from conception. After leaving FOTF in 2010, he established the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI) to continue his mission.

Dobson’s influence extended significantly into the political arena, advising five U.S. presidents, including George H.W. BushGeorge W. BushBill Clinton, and Donald Trump. He served on Trump’s Evangelical Executive Advisory Board, a role critical in linking conservative Christian communities to the White House and shaping policy debates. His enduring legacy is defined by tireless efforts to defend timeless truths about faith and family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and family.
