Tensions across the Persian Gulf have intensified following reports of coordinated attacks targeting United States military facilities in several Gulf countries. Iranian state television, citing military officials, announced that Iran had launched strikes against U.S. bases in the region, prompting heightened security measures and emergency alerts. According to early reports, several locations across the Gulf may have been affected. Authorities in multiple countries urged residents to remain indoors and stay away from military installations while officials assessed the situation.

Reuters reported that a powerful explosion was heard in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. In response, the UAE temporarily closed its airspace as a precaution. Reports suggest that Al Dhafra Air Base, which hosts U.S. forces, may have been targeted by Iranian ballistic missiles, with witnesses describing large blasts near the facility. In Bahrain, residents in the capital Manama reported seeing smoke rising from the Al Jufair district, an area where the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet is located. The reports fueled speculation that the base could have been among the targets in the wider escalation.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Interior Ministry instructed citizens and residents to shelter in place. Officials stated that a Patriot missile defense system intercepted a missile believed to be heading toward Al Udeid Air Base, one of the largest U.S. military installations in the region. Qatar also announced the temporary closure of its airspace. Regional media outlets, including Al Jazeera, reported loud explosions in Kuwait as well. Authorities there advised residents to remain at home while security forces continued monitoring developments. Officials across the region stressed that the situation remains rapidly evolving.
