Tensions in the Persian Gulf appear to have sharply escalated following reports of coordinated attacks on U.S. military installations across the region, allegedly carried out by Iran.
Iranian state television, citing military sources, announced that operations targeting U.S. bases had been launched. While independent confirmation remains limited, multiple regional reports suggest impacts in several countries hosting American forces.
In the United Arab Emirates, a powerful explosion was reported in Abu Dhabi, prompting authorities to close national airspace. The Al Dhafra Air Base, a key installation used by U.S. forces, is believed to have been targeted by ballistic missiles, with witnesses describing multiple large blasts.
In Bahrain, smoke was reportedly seen rising over the Al Jufair area in Manama, where the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet is headquartered, following what local sources described as an attempted strike.
Meanwhile, Qatar activated emergency measures. Officials urged residents to shelter in place after a missile threat targeting Al Udeid Air Base. According to the Defense Ministry, Patriot missile system batteries successfully intercepted incoming projectiles, and the country has since closed its airspace while remaining on high alert.
Explosions were also reported in Kuwait, where authorities advised citizens to remain indoors and avoid travel as a precaution.
At this stage, details remain fluid and in some cases unverified. Governments across the region are issuing safety advisories, and global observers are closely monitoring for signs of further escalation or retaliation.
