House Speaker Mike Johnson recently criticized the economic policies under President Joe Biden, which he attributes to the inflation and rising costs currently affecting Americans. Johnson called out Biden’s “Bidenomics,” blaming high government spending for driving inflation to 40-year highs and making life harder for U.S. households.
During an appearance on Fox News, Johnson told co-hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino that once Republicans took control of Congress, they immediately worked to reverse what they see as the negative effects of Biden’s policies. He pointed to several areas where Republicans claim success, including tax cuts, economic growth, and efforts to reduce inflation. According to Johnson, inflation has started to decrease, gas prices are at a five-year low, and the economy is growing at a rate of over 5%, a figure even many conservative economists thought was impossible. Johnson also defended the Republican agenda, particularly the policies put in place during President Donald Trump’s administration, claiming that these measures have helped stabilize the economy and lower prices for consumers. “When our policies are implemented, they work,” Johnson stated, suggesting that voters will reward Republicans for these economic improvements in the upcoming elections.
In addition, Johnson addressed criticisms from Democrats about immigration policies, especially calls to defund or abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He emphasized that ICE plays a crucial role in law enforcement and public safety, particularly in light of what he claims are dangerous migrants entering the country due to lax border security under the Biden administration. He also rejected claims from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez about the Stop Insider Trading Act, arguing that the legislation is a step toward cleaning up Congress and restoring public trust. This version keeps the core points of Johnson’s argument, focusing on economic policies, ICE, and the Stop Insider Trading Act while tightening the structure and flow.
