Speaker Mike Johnson Says Republican Policies Are Driving Economic Recovery

Mike Johnson recently argued that the economic challenges facing the United States are the result of policies associated with Joe Biden, which critics have labeled “Bidenomics.” Johnson said that high government spending during Biden’s presidency helped drive inflation to levels not seen in decades and contributed to rising costs for American households. During an interview on Fox News with co-hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino, Johnson outlined what he described as the success of recent Republican economic policies. According to Johnson, once Republicans gained control of Congress and the White House, they moved quickly to implement measures designed to reduce inflation, cut taxes, and stimulate economic growth.

Johnson pointed to several economic indicators he believes demonstrate progress. He noted that inflation has been trending downward, gas prices have reached a five-year low, and the economy has recorded growth rates exceeding five percent. Johnson argued that these outcomes reflect the effectiveness of policies previously associated with Donald Trump and the Republican Party, claiming such policies prioritize economic stability and affordability for Americans. Beyond economic issues, Johnson also criticized Democratic calls to reduce funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He argued that the agency plays a crucial role in enforcing immigration law and maintaining public safety. Johnson claimed that millions of migrants entered the country during the Biden administration and said ICE must be allowed to carry out its duties without political interference.

Johnson also addressed criticism from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez regarding the proposed Stop Insider Trading Act. He rejected her claims about the bill, stating that it would prohibit members of Congress from trading stocks and help restore public trust by preventing potential conflicts of interest. Johnson concluded that the legislation represents an important step toward increasing accountability and strengthening confidence in Congress.
