Tragic: Fox News Contributor Dies Following Hidden Battle With Cancer

Kelly Powers, a physician and television medical expert who frequently appeared on Fox News and Fox Business, has died at the age of 45 after a long battle with the aggressive brain cancer Glioblastoma. Dr. Powers passed away Sunday in New Jersey, according to an obituary from a Holmdel funeral home. She was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2020, a rare and highly aggressive form of brain cancer that she fought for several years with remarkable resilience.

Born on May 13, 1979, in Yonkers, New York, Powers pursued her undergraduate studies at Baruch College in New York City before attending the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. She later earned a master’s degree in science from the University of San Francisco and completed residency programs at Georgetown University and Boston University. In addition to her medical career, Powers became widely known for sharing health insights on television. She appeared regularly on networks including CNN, NBC, and CBS, as well as on the Fox News late-night program Red Eye.

Her health journey took an unexpected turn when she experienced shortness of breath and chest pain while appearing live on Fox Business during a segment about heart health. She later revealed that she had gone into heart failure during the broadcast, an event she described as both shocking and surreal. Although surgery initially removed a brain tumor and she appeared to recover, the cancer eventually returned. Friends and supporters later raised nearly $100,000 to help fund experimental treatment when the disease resurfaced in 2024. Despite the challenges, Powers remained optimistic and often used humor to cope with her illness. She is survived by her husband, Steven Doll, and their young son, Bennett. Funeral services are scheduled in Red Bank, New Jersey.
